David Goodis has been called The American Dream In Reverse. He went from the pulps to the fame of Hollywood (writer of Dark Passage) and back again. His final days were spent writing in the upstairs bedroom of his parents house. In between, he was one of the quintessential writers of American noir, and should be mentioned in the same breath as Hammett, Chandler, and Cornell Woolrich.
Led by organizers NoirCon's Lou Boxer and author Duane Swierczynski, a small group gathers in Philadelphia to visit Goodis' grave, he house where he spent his final years and his old haunts. They read from his works and to pay tribute to David Goodis, his works and his life.
It's a Retreat to Goodisville.
